Spartan Armor Systems®’ new Hercules Lite Level III+/RF2 ceramic and UHMWPE armor plate offers balanced protection and performance in a standalone plate.
Tucson, Ariz. (January 2023) – Spartan Armor Systems®, manufacturers of American-designed and made body armor, tactical gear, and targets, is pleased to introduce its new Hercules Lite RF2 Level III+/RF2 rated armor plate, made at the Spartan Armor Systems facility in Arizona. Offering balanced protection and performance in a standalone plate, the Hercules Lite is engineered to stop M80 BALL and advanced threats such as M855.
The Hercules Lite is the perfect intermediate plate offerinf protection against non-armor piercing threats in a lightweight platform. At just 4 lbs per plate, the Hercules Lite allows the operator to maintain agility and ease of movement. Despite the lightweight configuration, the Hercules Lite still meets the NIJ standards for backface deformation which is designed to limit the effects fo blunt force trauma.
In addition to its true multi-curve design, the Hercules Lite provides full edge-to-edge coverage in a SAPI medium 9.5x12.5 in. design, with a 1 in. thickness profile. Made from ceramic and UHMWPE materials, Hercules Lite body armor’s exterior is covered with 1000 Denier Cordura® material and features the Hercules embroidered logo. The SHOT Show is the world’s most comprehensive trade show for professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting, outdoor, law enforcement, and armed forces industries. This year’s show in both The Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum will offer unique opportunities for attendees to experience the best in firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and other related products and services first-hand.

System’s toughest and lightest level IV plate yet. With a boron carbide strike face and UHMWPE backer, the Hercules Xtreme Level IV is a military-grade plate that has been laboratory tested and proven to defeat 3-4 impacts of .30-06 M2AP armor-piercing rounds.
Spartan Armor Systems is also pleased to launch its new OEM program at SHOT Show. Its vertical integration allows for fast prototyping and quick go-to-market solutions for all levels of body armor with minimal lead times, even for large orders. The Hercules Xtreme Level IV ceramic body armor plate is Spartan Armor System’s toughest and lightest level IV plate yet. With a boron carbide strike face and UHMWPE backer, the Hercules Xtreme Level IV is a military-grade plate that has been laboratory tested and proven to defeat 3-4 impacts of .30-06 M2AP armor-piercing rounds. Boron carbide is one of the hardest materials known to man; however, it is lighter than other softer ceramics such as aluminum oxide, which is used in most civilian-grade body armor.

The Hercules level IV body armor plate has been thoroughly tested by an independentl NIJ Certified laboratory.
The Hercules offers wearers maximum protection without sacrificing comfort. Designed using Spartan Armor’s Advanced Compound Curve (ACC) feature, Hercules is a true multi-curve design providing the wearer with the most comfortable fit out of any ceramic Level IV body armor plate on the market today. This advanced ergonomic design is especially important during extended duty engagements, typical of law enforcement, military, and security operations.
In addition to its true multi-curve design, Hercules offers full edge-to-edge protection, providing 10” x 12” edge of armor to edge of armor protection. Tucson, Ariz. (July 2021) – Spartan Armor Systems®, manufacturers of American-designed and made body armor, tactical gear, and targets, announce the toughest and lightest body armor yet with the Ares Level IV Ceramic Body Armor, made at the Spartan Armor Systems facility in Arizona.
Wearing a typical Level IV ceramic body armor plate, weighing in at 7 to 8 lbs. can be incredibly taxing, especially when the situation requires operating in active and stressful hostile engagements. With the Ares Level IV Ceramic Body Armor plate, no one has to sacrifice safety for a lightweight alternative. The strike-face is made with one of the toughest materials known to man, boron carbide, and can easily destroy .30-06 M2 AP rounds upon impact. The lightweight UHMWPE backer catches the remaining bullet fragments preventing any penetration or secondary spall injury to the operator.
Unlike some ceramic body armor plates that only offer an 8” x 10” interior protected area, the Ares offers full edge-to-edge protection with a 9.5” x 12.5” shooters cut profile in a highly compatible ESAPI sizing to maximize the operator’s choice in plate carriers. Using a multi-curve design provides additional comfort, especially during extended duty use.
Spartan Armor Systems lightest and toughest yet; the Ares Level IV Ceramic Body Armor plate is covered with 1000 Denier Cordura® material and features the Ares embroidered logo. plate carrier with new enhancements designed to meet the most rigorous demands of the modern operator. Enhanced with lightweight Squadron laser-cut laminate material over a Cordura 500D body, the Leonidas Legend plate carrier is built to last. The Leonidas Legend features effective thin and lightweight high density foam standoffs for air circulation, enhanced shoulder pads, quick release cummerbund and many more upgrades.
With enhanced padding in the front, back and shoulders, the Leonidas Legend is designed to minimize fatigue and maximize comfort during extended duty use. The tough, but soft, spacer mesh helps this carrier breathe while facilitating heat dissipation. The fully adjustable (and removeable) cummerbund provides seven levels of adjustment, allowing for a variety of body types ranging from L to 3XL. High abrasion laminate exterior panels not only provide a super low profile mounting solution, but reduces weight while shielding the 500D Cordura body.
The Leonidas Legend comes standard with MOLLE side plate pouches capable of holding 6”x6” or 6”x8” armored side plates. Each shoulder pad also features multi-directional laser-cut webbing to allow for greater freedom in mounting and retainment options. First Spear Tubes are integrated into the cummerbund to allow for faster dawning and removal of the carrier. The top zippered admin pouch is capable of holding smartphones up to 6.5” long. Additional storage is also provided by way of the front kangaroo pouch which is retained by hook-and-loop. Spartan Armor Systems Introduce Two New Wraparound Body Armor Vests
Spartan Armor Systems new NIJ certified wraparound outer carrier vests for tactical and concealable wear offer superior comfort and protection at an affordable price.
Tucson, Ariz. (August 2019) – Spartan Armor Systems, manufacturers of American-designed and made body armor, tactical gear and targets, is proud to announce their new wraparound body armor vests for tactical operators and professionals requiring additional security and safety in a lightweight, concealable carrier.
The Spartan Armor Systems Concealable Level IIIA certified wraparound vest is part of Spartan Armor System’s expanding soft armor line. Designed on a Level IIIA Certified Concealable Vest platform for discrete operation, it protects the wearer from standard handgun rounds. It is extremely comfortable and by using its four-point adjustable strapping system, the wearer can custom fit the carrier instantly and comfortably. Users of this system find the vest is almost like wearing nothing at all. The construction features a moisture-wicking, anti-microbial inner liner for all-day comfort. Featuring a side opening design, the fully-adjustable shoulder straps allow the wearer to make adjustments while the carrier is being worn. A low-profile loop provides less bulk and reduces any friction against the wearer’s clothing.
The Spartan Armor Systems Concealable IIIA wraparound vest has a 5”x 8” Trauma Plate for back face deformation reduction and dual 6” x 8” and 7” x 9” front plate inserts. Available in sizes small to XXL for individual professionals or departments.
For first responders requiring greater protection and versatility, the new Spartan Armor Systems Tactical Level IIIA wraparound vest features a streamlined design without compromise. Made from a 1000 denier material for maximum durability, the Tactical wraparound vest offers four-point adjustability with a slide closure cummerbund and shoulder straps that allow for adjusting fit while wearing the carrier. The MOLLE front pocket allows the wearer to fully customize his carrier with additional pouches or accessories. The front and back pockets will hold a Spartan Armor Systems 10” x 12” steel core plate or the composite/ceramic plates. The drag handle is heavy-duty and load-bearing. ID attachment platforms measuring 10.5” x 3” are located where they will be highly visible on the front and back of the vest.
The versatile Tactical Level IIIA wraparound carrier can be used as a standard Level IIIA protection vest or the wearer can add a rifle rated ballistic plate up to 10” x 12.” Also available in sizes small to XXL, the Tactical Wraparound vest is available to individual officers or entire departments.
Under the NIJ Certification Level IIIA specifications, both new wraparound vests are rated to stop .44 mag SJHP and Special Threat Rated to stop .357SIG FMJ. Their soft armor can be used stand-alone for Level IIIA protection or in conjunction with a backer for any hard armor systems. Both the Concealable Level IIIA wraparound vest and the Tactical Level IIIA wraparound vest are proudly made in the United States and available to public safety and civilians.
