Level IIIA body armor is a type of personal protective equipment that is designed to protect the wearer's torso from handgun bullets and shrapnel. It is typically worn in a vest or plate carrier, and can be worn over clothing or underneath. From our wraparound vests, to our Flex Fused Core™ Soft Armor, you are sure to find what you are looking for when it comes to Level IIIA Handgun protection.
Level IIIA body armor is rated to stop .44 MAG SJHP, as well as Special Threat Rated to stop .357 SIG FMJ. It is made from high-density materials such as kevlar or polyethylene, which are able to absorb and disperse the energy of the impact.
It is important to note that level IIIA body armor is not designed to protect against rifle rounds or armor-piercing ammunition. For protection against these types of threats, higher levels of armor are required. Check out our higher levels below.
Level III body armor level 3 body armor is designed to withstand various rifle rounds, shotgun rounds, and semi-jacketed hollow point bullets (SJHPs). Level III body armor can withstand all handgun rounds and rifle rounds up to 7.62mm NATO FMJ (M80). Our level III body armor comes in all shapes and sizes.
Our Spartan™ Omega™ AR500 Steel Body Armor line has options for shooters cut, swimmers cut, and square/rectangle side plates. Steel is a great option for rifle-rated body armor as it is more affordable and usually has a longer shelf life than most ceramic/composite plates.
We also carry a level III composite armor plate that is super lightweight. Our Elaphros plates are made from UHMWPE and come in at only 3.5 pounds per plate.

Need steel armor with a little more protection capabilities? Look no further than Level III+ Body Armor.
Level III+ is not an NIJ Standard Rating. This rating has been created by the body armor industry to fill the gap between level III and level IV body armor.
Level III+ body armor can defeat rifle rounds up to 7.62 x 51, along with light armor piercing (AP) projectiles, such as the 5.56 x 45 (M855). Level III+ Body Armor is a great option to have because it gives greater protection without comprimising much weight and manuverability.

Level IV body armor is the ultimiate protection you can have when it comes to bulletproof vests.

These plates have a military-grade Boron Carbide strike face, multicurve design, and feature full 9.5"x12.5" edge-to-edge protection at only 6.1 lbs per plate. Did we mention that they are multi-hit rated to withstand 3-4 rounds of .30-06 M2 AP.
Our original Hercules Level IV Ceramic Body Armor plates are no-joke too. You get full 10"x12" edge-to-edge protection at only 6.9 lbs per plate. Our hercules plates show off another industry leading innovation with our "True Multicurve" Design.
Level IV body armor can stop large caliber and armor piercing rifle threats up to .30-06 M2AP armor piercing rounds with a mass of 166 grains and velocity of 2880 ft/s.
