BIG Changes at Spartan Armor Systems

Over the past year we’ve seen record sales and we’d like to thank all of our customers for trusting us with their personal safety. Rather than buying the management team yachts and Ferrari's, we’ve been investing in technology/infrastructure with the aim of reducing production times, increasing R&D and maximizing product quality. Despite the fact that we’re still seeing significantly higher sales compared to the pre-covid days, we’re pushing orders out faster than ever. In this article we’re going to cover some exciting new changes happening at our manufacturing facility that will help us continue to provide superior body armor products at an even faster rate. But first, a quick announcement on our current lead times:

As of 2/26/21, our current lead time for most orders is 3-4 weeks.
Orders without body armor typically ship in 1-2 weeks.

New Lower Lead Time for Full Coat and Advanced Triple Curve™ Products

Historically, our Full Coat and Advanced Triple Curve™ (ATC) steel core body armor has taken about 2-3 weeks longer to produce due to the techniques involved and the materials. We’re happy to announce that due to changes we’ve made recently, our Full Coat and ATC products now have the same lead times as our other steel core body armor products. This is a big improvement considering the significant order volumes we see for these products. This will have a cascading effect and reduce lead times for most of our products

Material Availability and Mother Nature

The recent catastrophic snow storms in many states had resulted in unexpected delays in materials and shipping in general. Across the board we had been seeing delays with USPS, FedEx and UPS deliveries. However, now as the weather has begun stabilizing so too has shipping. The improving weather has also allowed materials manufactures to get production back underway. Thankfully, most of the materials shortages that we were seeing at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic have been resolved.

Facility Expansion

For those of you following us on Facebook and Instagram, you may be already aware that we are expanding the size of our facility. In fact, we’re doubling the size of our facility. Much of this space will be used to house more machinery that will allow us to continue experimenting and developing new body armor technologies. This will not only speed up our production timelines, but also allow us to create new life saving body armor products.

Which Orders Take The Longest?

Keep in mind that in order to keep prices low, we ramp manufacturing based on demand. This allows us to pass along major savings to our customers due to the reduced overhead. Traditionally, orders with less common configurations take the longest, say for example 11x14 body armor plates. While our lead times for such products are still lower than most of our competition (despite what they may promise on their websites), we’re always working to reduce our lead times. With recent changes to our manufacturing processes, we’ll be seeing less of a difference in lead times for less common products.

If you’ve been waiting for lead times to decrease before buying body armor, now is the time to place your order. We’re seeing some unsettling anti-second amendment legislation on the horizon along with other societal issues that will continue to drive body armor sales. Just as with other self-defense and safety equipment, you don’t want to wait until demand is through the roof before placing an order. Even simple products such as magazine pouches have been a challenge to keep in stock since 2020 nailed planet earth between the eyes. It pays to be prepared, who knows what’s around the corner in 2021.
