In the Field with Spartan Armor: Real-World Experience
West Virginia State Trooper, Abraham Bean, was shot four times at close range. At the time, Trooper Bean was wearing a Spartan Armor Systems Executive Protection Shirt that contained Spartan Armor Flex Fused Core™ Level IIIA body armor panels. Though terribly wounded, Trooper Bean survived the assault. Below is a brief account of the incident told by his father Brian Bean to Todd Meeks, president of Spartan Armor Systems, through email.
“My name is Brian W. Bean. I am a retired West Virginia State Trooper. After I retired in 2017, I became a civilian investigator with the West Virginia State Police. My son, Abraham A. Bean become a West Virginia State Trooper in 2000. In December of 2023, while serving an arrest warrant near Martinsburg, WV, my son was shot four times. Two of the caused wounds to his left leg. These wounds resulted in the amputation of his left leg above the knee. One shot broke his left arm in multiple places and fractured his left shoulder. One shot was stopped by your vest. These shots were fired from only several feet away. I want to thank you for your product, it saved my sons life. Thank you. My son, his family, and the rest of my family, appreciate your product.”
