Elaphros, which when translated is Greek for light, quick, agile and easy to carry. Appropriately named, Elaphros plates are made from layers of tough, ultra-high modular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers. The plates are designed to provide full body protection and maximum maneuverability, as well as give the wearer the ability to cover extended distances without carrying the additional weight of most body armor systems .

Elaphros plates offer the same quality, comfort and affordability for which Spartan products are known. Constructed from multiple layers of advanced UHMWPE hybrid fibers, Spartan’s Lightweight Elaphros Plates have a profile of just 1.2” that gives the wearer maximum mobility, comfort and ballistic protection against small arms fire. Lab tests have verified Spartan Armor Systems’ Elaphros Body Armor Plates meet or exceed NIJ-0101.06 Level III ballistic resistance specifications, which means they will withstand hits up to 7.62 x 51 mm rifle rounds at a striking velocity of 2,780 feet per second.

Elaphros 10” x 12” Shooter’s Cut multi-curved, ergonomically designed body armor inserts were designed by Spartan’s in-house team of engineering professionals, who collectively have more than 20 years body armor industry experience. These UHMWPE plates were developed using only the highest quality materials while adhering to the strictest quality standards to provide the wearer with maximum performance and protection in tactical situations.

Elaphros Body Armor plates have been tested and rated to withstand multiple hits from small arms handgun and rifle fire. They’re also stab resistant and neutrally buoyant. The composite plates are coated with Spartan’s proprietary Encapsaloc™ polyurea coating to prevent spalling, as well as protect them against the effects of water, contaminants and normal wear and tear from daily use.
